How I “Self-Love”

Hey girl hey!

If you have been following me for a while you know that I loveee preaching about Self-Love.  It is super important that we take care of ourselves. The sad thing? I feel like I shouldn’t even have to say that. We all know that taking care of ourselves is important. The thing is, most women don’t do it. They turn their head the other way and pretend that is everything is okay. Out of sight out of mind right? Wrong. See, there is a reason that flight attendants tell you to put the oxygen mask on yourself BEFORE others. If you were to try to help the small kiddo next to you with their air mask first, you run the risk of not being able to help as effectively…assuming your aren’t knocked out first. Then neither of you are going to do very well. Same thing goes in life, ladies. You HAVE to take care of yourself before you can give your best to others. Here are a few ways that I like to take time for myself and treat myself to a little “Self-Love”:

  1. Take a hot bath. I don’t know what it is about soaking in a hot bath that helps pretty much anything but I am not going to question it! Especially if you add an amazing bath bomb by one of my favorite bath shops Bath Anatomy! This is something that helps ease my anxiety when I am feeling on the edge of a panic attack or I am more anxious in general.
  2. Read. I know, I know. I can feel some of you rolling your eyes at me. I have always been a reader though so this comes natural for me. For those of you that struggle with this…maybe you just aren’t reading the right books. Two books that I really love are Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis and You are a Badass  by Jen Sincero. Both of these are very easy reads but they get you so PUMPED! Even my friends that do not enjoy reading liked these. If reading isn’t your jam, that’s okay too!
  3. Window Shop. Or actual shop. Whatever floats your boat. I do my best be good and window shop. The key to this is just taking time for yourself WITHOUT THE KIDS. This is my downfall. I usually bring Kaya with me almost everywhere. Hell, even if you decide to spend a little money on a new shirt or accessory. You’ll still feel good about it. And you can do it in peace!
  4. Dinner with a friend. Now, this does not have to be anything fancy. Somewhere low-key will do just fine. Going out for even a little while with a girlfriend for food and maybe a drink is just enough for me. Sometimes just connecting with a friend is all you need to feel good again. It certainly helps me!

These are just a couple of ways that you can fill up on your self love. These are fairly cheap, if not free options too! This is by no means an exhaustive list. Self-love is different for everyone. Pick a few things that you enjoy doing and do it a little more. Please take the time for yourself lady <3 You deserve it. And everyone else around you deserves you at your best.
